MEDIA RELEASE

There has been a latte excitement in Waterford as the community prepares for the grand opening of a popup onsite café in December.

The pet-friendly café – named The Kitchen at Waterford– will be operated by Maitland local Jenny Benning, operator of the popular Seraphine Café at Maitland Regional Art Gallery.

AVID Property Group (AVID) New South Wales Project Director Nathan Huon said the café was designed to complement the Sales and Information Centre and encourage neighbourhood interactions between Waterford residents, AVID staff and the wider Maitland community.

“The café is part of the Waterford Community Hub which features the Sales and Information Centre, Community Kitchen Garden and upcoming Builders’ Display Village. The Hub is designed to create a destination that will foster new connections and support existing relationships,” Mr Huon said.

“The Sales and Information Centre and temporary café welcomes visitors looking to purchase at Waterford and will be central to future community events hosted onsite by AVID.

“AVID’s mission is to create places that people love to belong and the café stems from this philosophy. It will be the perfect place to sit back, relax and soak up the vibrant atmosphere at Waterford.”

Founder Jenny Benning said she was excited to be joining the Waterford community hub.

“I am looking forward to sharing a brew with current and future Waterford residents along with their furry friends,” Ms Benning said.

“The café will boast warm and industrial style interiors with bookshelves, communal dining and re-purposed furniture, creating a cozy and casual atmosphere.”

The café will dish up fresh breakfast and lunch items inspired by seasonal produce, adding unique flavour with herbs grown in the Waterford Community Kitchen Garden.

Ms Benning said the café will be a great opportunity to support other local businesses in the Hunter region.

“We’re determined to use as many suppliers from the region as possible including honey from Morpeth and locally made bread. These items will also be available for purchase at the café,” Ms Benning said.

“In addition to this, we will be serving beverages using sustainably designed Huskee cups – a reusable coffee cup made from recycled coffee husk. We will be stocking the cups onsite so customers can buy their own and use them for takeaway orders in the future.

“We’re looking forward to providing the local community with employment and training opportunities and are committed to providing our staff with the necessary hospitality and barista skills.”

The Kitchen at Waterford will officially launch late-November 2019, located next to Waterford’s Sales and Information Centre on Settlers Boulevard.
